Why Not Tap Water?

By April 15, 2016 February 18th, 2020 No Comments

drinking water“Filtered water is not an option – it’s a necessity. According to The New York Times, at least one in five Americans, or 20 percent, drink tap water polluted with feces, radiation, or other pathogenic contaminants. Additionally, in most of the United States, the toxic chemicals fluoride and chlorine are added to drinking water. For example, according to the EPA, 75 percent of Americans drink chlorinated tap water. This chlorine, which was used as a toxic chemical weapon during World War I, sterilizes not only the water but also the intestinal tract, destroying many beneficial intestinal flora. Furthermore, fluoride, which was the principal active ingredient in rat poison for years before being added to our drinking water after World War II, has been shown to increase the risk of hip fractures by 20 to 40 percent, as well as increasing the risk of heart disease and bone cancer in young men. Thus, individuals who eat a scrupulously clean diet but still drink tap water are seriously sabotaging themselves and, depending on the quality of the local water, greatly impairing their progress in repopulating and repairing their digestive tracts.”

This paragraph was pulled from the book, Radical Medicine, written by Louisa L. Williams, M.S., D.C., N.D (pg. 244). Much more information can be found on the dangers of drinking unfiltered water, but here, it is summarized quite well. The contaminants found in our “drinking” water serious inhibit the healing we are trying to bring forth, and can manifest in many ways. Heavy metals and toxic chemicals often come up in Nutrition Response Testing, even in those who go out of their way to avoid exposure, because they are so readily found in our tap water. Over time, the consumption of these toxins can lead to significant health issues and blocking of open regulation in the autonomic nervous system. Again, when open regulation is blocked, healing often comes to a halt. Many of you have experienced this first hand.

Not to worry…there are ways around this, though we must be proactive. Reverse Osmosis is considered optimal in water filtration according to most healthcare practitioners. “Dennis Higgins, M.D., who has studied hydrology (the study of water) for over twenty years, recommends a fourteen-stage reverse osmosis unit he designed that scrupulously filters out toxic metals and chemicals, with a special filter inserted at the end of the process to slightly mineralize and alkalinize the water. This process renders water most akin to the optimum water that is found in the clean mountain streams or lakes.” These tend to be pretty expensive, so we also recommend a 5-Stage reverse osmosis filtration system. These also get the job done. You can find them on Amazon here. These are probably best installed by a plumber. We can help find one for you if interested. Just let us know.

This type of filtration system may be out of your price range; in that case, we recommend that you purchase spring water regularly. Brita and other filters of the like don’t do much to filter out chemicals and metals, and mostly just make the water taste better. We do sell shower filters so to rid you of that additional risk. Please call or stop by to pick one up if you are interested in purchasing one.

Be vigilant about your drinking water. It makes quite a profound difference in your progress.

Now, go on and quench your thirst with delicious, clean water. Cheers!
